Slack
Connect your practice's Slack and SOPHIE posts notifications to a channel your team already watches. Each office can post to the practice's channel, to a channel of its own, or not at all.
What SOPHIE posts
Today SOPHIE posts two kinds of notification to Slack:
- A Standard is published or changed.
- A new FIX List item is raised.
In notification settings you may also see Slack listed for overdue work and for Scoreboard numbers below target. Those are greyed out with "SOPHIE does not post this to Slack yet."
Connect Slack for the practice
You need permission to Edit workspace settings.
- Open Settings and choose Integrations under Workspace.
- Choose Slack and click Connect Slack.
- Slack opens. Sign in if asked, choose your Slack workspace and approve SOPHIE.
- Back in SOPHIE you'll see "Connected to Slack: your team".
- Under Workspace channel, pick the channel SOPHIE should post to.
- Click Send test message to make sure it arrives.
The workspace channel is used by every office set to Same as the practice, and for Standards that apply to every office.
If the channel is private, SOPHIE can't see it until you invite her. In that channel, type /invite @Hi SOPHIE, then pick it again.
Choose where each office posts
- In Settings, under Space settings, open the office and choose Integrations.
- Choose Slack.
- Under Channel, pick one of:
- a channel of its own,
- Same as the practice, or
- Don't post for that office.
The top of the pane tells you where the office posts right now, for example "North Office posts to #front-desk in your team · same as the practice".
For offices that haven't made a choice, Space defaults decides: Same as the practice or Don't post.
An office with its own Slack
If an office uses a separate Slack workspace, choose its own Slack under Slack workspace, then Connect office's Slack. SOPHIE warns you first: everything for that office goes to its own Slack, including Standards for every office.
Status at a glance
On Workspace › Integrations, the Slack row shows Connected, Pick a channel, Needs reconnect, Not connected, or how many offices need attention. An office's Slack shows Posting, Off, Not posting, Needs reconnect or Not connected.
If Slack shows Needs reconnect, click Reconnect and approve SOPHIE again.
Disconnect Slack
Open Workspace › Integrations › Slack and click Disconnect Slack, then confirm. SOPHIE stops posting.
Good to know
- Who can change it. The practice's Slack needs permission to Edit workspace settings. An office's Slack can also be changed by someone with permission to Edit space settings for that office; they see that office's Integrations in Settings.
- One Slack, one place. A Slack workspace already connected for the practice can't also be connected as an office's own Slack. Pick a channel for that office instead.
- Slack is for notifications. You can't reply to SOPHIE or run commands from Slack.
