Asking SOPHIE About the Scoreboard
SOPHIE can read your Scoreboard for you. Instead of scanning rows and columns, ask her in Ask SOPHIE — "How did collections do last month?" — and she answers from the same numbers the board shows, over whatever period you ask about.
She reads the Scoreboard for the space you're working in.
Questions SOPHIE can answer
How you're doing
- "Are we on track this quarter?"
- "How did we do last quarter?" / "How are we doing this year?"
- "How does this month compare to last month?"
- "Which numbers are behind target?"
SOPHIE judges the last full week, and describes the week still running as pace: what has come in so far and what the week needs to keep the quarter on track. For rows where lower is better, such as A/R, she reads the direction correctly.
Who's responsible
- "Who is supposed to fill this in?"
- "Who is responsible for collections?"
She gives you both halves: who owns the result, and who enters the number. If the role that enters it has nobody in it, she'll say that nobody is currently being asked — usually the reason a cell is empty.
Why a number is what it is
- "Why is this cell empty?"
- "How is this row calculated?"
- "Why doesn't Collections match my report?"
- "Since when do we have numbers for new patients?"
- "Why do my two A/R rows disagree?"
- "Can I correct a number that came from my practice software?"
She'll tell you, for example, whether an empty cell means a number wasn't entered or wasn't collected, what a combined row adds up, or that your report runs Monday to Sunday while the Scoreboard runs Sunday to Saturday.
What you could track
- "Can we track case acceptance?"
She'll say whether it can be collected from your practice management system, whether it's a standard metric that's coming soon, or whether it would be a typed row someone enters each week.
What SOPHIE won't do
- Change your board for you. Goals, metrics and assignees are set in Manage KPIs — see Setting up metrics and goals.
- Invent a goal. If a row has no target, she says so rather than guessing one, because without a goal nothing can be on track or behind.
- Count an empty week as zero. A week nobody entered or nothing was collected for is left out, and she'll tell you how many weeks were left out and why.
- Re-pull your data. Your collected numbers update every night. If something needs re-pulling, she'll point you to support.
Good to know
- SOPHIE sees the Scoreboard the way you do. If your access is limited to the metrics assigned to you, so are her answers.
- For collected rows she can answer by exact calendar month, because those numbers are collected day by day. Typed rows exist only by week, and a Scoreboard week can span two months, so a monthly figure for a typed row is built from the weeks inside it.
