First to Claim (Replaced)

Update

First to Claim has been replaced by Round Robin and Workload assignment types. These new options achieve the same goal — not every person has to do the task — with less friction. SOPHIE now assigns the task automatically instead of waiting for someone to claim it.

What changed​

Previously, First to Claim made a task available to everyone in a role and waited for one person to click "Claim." While this worked, it had two downsides:

  1. Tasks sat unclaimed when everyone assumed someone else would grab it.
  2. The same person often ended up claiming it every time, creating an unintentional imbalance.

The new assignment types solve both problems:

  • Round Robin — SOPHIE rotates the assignment fairly between team members. No one gets stuck doing it every time.
  • Workload — SOPHIE assigns to the person with the fewest pending tasks. Busy days are balanced automatically.

With both options, the assigned person sees the task on their My Day list already assigned to them — no claiming step needed.

What happened to my First to Claim SOPs?​

Any SOPs that previously used First to Claim have been migrated to the new assignment types. If you need to verify or change the assignment type on a SOP, open it in the editor, click Schedule, and review the assignment type setting for each schedule group.
